WELCOME TO THE HEARTLAND INSTITUTE OF FINANCIAL EDUCATION
The Heartland
Institute of Financial Education (HIFE), a non-profit organization,
was designed for the specific purpose of promoting financial
literacy across America through the effective application of
financial education. The Institute recognizes financial
professionals through the awarding of the CFEd.
The CFEd is the first registered
designation to recognize the financial professional who teaches
others
HIFE has also
been chartered with the awarding of the CFEd or certified financial
educator designation. A CFEd
is an individual who has been trained
and certified through HIFE and whose credentials have been accepted
by the HIFE Consortium of Colleges and Universities across the
United States. Once a professional has earned the CFEd marks they
are recognized for their willingness and effort to educate and
enlighten others, whether through the formal classroom, individual
training sessions or simply by imparting important information to
clients.
The national movement for financial
literacy is creating new marketing opportunities
Employers,
government agencies, school systems, trade associations and others
are seeking advice from trusted sources on how to best provide
financial education for their employees and associates.
“The smartest
employers today are broadening their perspectives about financial
education and moving beyond just retirement education to offering
comprehensive financial education.”
Thomas Garman, Virginia Tech professor,
Emeritus
This is why
becoming a CFEd and providing value to employers, organizations and
associations is quickly becoming the marketing tool
for informed financial professionals.
HIFE and the CFEd provides a unique
“branding” for financial professionals
The CFEd
is the
designation of financial educators. The CFEd
provides insight and
information for employees, reducing employer liability. The
CFEd is
a tremendous resource for Human Resource Professionals and for
companies, organizations and associations that seek financial
expertise from one who educates others.
HIFE provides Financial "Wellness" courses for employers
The Heartland
Institute of Financial Education provides on-site financial
education for the employees and associates of businesses,
organizations and associations. This education is presented through
select courses, which were originally offered in Colorado and
sponsored through the Community College of Aurora. These
courses are now offered nationally in affiliation with several major
universities, making up the HIFE Consortium of Colleges and
Universities.
Registry CFEd's
are sponsored by a Consortium of Universities
All courses are
taught by Certified Financial Educators. A CFEd
is an instructor who has been trained and certified through HIFE and
whose credentials have been accepted by participating colleges and
universities. While many individuals have earned the right to use
the CFEd
marks, only those who have been admitted to the Registry of
Certified Financial Educators are sponsored by the Consortium
through HIFE to teach specific Financial Wellness Courses.
HIFE classes benefit the Employer
The need for
high quality and unbiased financial education in the workplace is an
important goal. Recent moves in federal legislation that may require
businesses to provide better financial education for employees have
raised this concern to even greater prominence.
Classes usually
take place at the participating business location. Workbooks help
personalize and identify areas that might need special attention.
Employees' spouses/partners are invited to attend at no additional
cost.
