CFE CERTIFIED FINANCIAL EDUCATOR®

 WHAT IS THE CFEd?

The CFEd is a registered designation that is awarded to individual professional practitioners who have knowledge in the field of financial services and have experience in the area of teaching or instructing adult learners, on a formal or informal basis.

WHO SHOULD BECOME A CFEd?

Those professionals who desire to be recognized for their experience and expertise in the above mentioned areas should consider obtaining the CFEd.  In addition, those who consider themselves eligible may wish to apply for the Registry of Certified Financial Educators, once they have attained the CFEd designation.  Professionals in the Financial Services field may include the following disciplines:

     *Financial Planning                                      *Banking/Mortgage services

*Insurance & Investment services                *Third Party Administrators

     *Accounting                                                *Planned Giving

     *Estate Planning                                          *Debt Management

WHAT IS THE REGISTRY OF CERTIFIED FINANCIAL EDUCATORS?

The Registry is comprised of chosen CFEd designees who receive additional training and are included in a relationship through the Heartland Institute of Financial Education (HIFE) and the HIFE Consortium of Colleges and Universities.  This relationship matches CFEd’s with local businesses and organizations to provide educational courses for respective employees and members.  The courses are college approved financial wellness courses, which are provided by HIFE and endorsed through the Consortium.

 WHAT IS HIFE?

The Heartland Institute of Financial Education is a non-profit organization that was established to promote and provide financial education in the workplace throughout the United States.  HIFE provides the educational material, as well as selecting and training instructors.  HIFE is also the “watchdog” that provides supervision of instructors and oversees quality control for the benefit of member colleges and universities.

 WHY SHOULD I BECOME A CFEd™?

The CFEd designation was designed to be the first professional certification that recognizes the achievement of knowledge on a conceptual basis, along with an ability to impart that knowledge to adult learners in a practical setting.  As one who is competent and effective in teaching others, the CFEd is recognized positively by human resource professionals and college/university personnel alike.  This opens doors for the CFEd to be viewed as unique and valuable when approaching opportunities to teach and interact with adult learners.  The CFE Certified Financial Educator® designation provides an enhancement of position and prestige, since it has been recognized as an official, registered Mark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  In addition, those who are accepted into the Registry will have a greater opportunity to represent the Consortium of Colleges and Universities and will be sponsored to teach the HIFE financial wellness courses at business locations.

 HOW DO I APPLY?

The following pages, which are entitled, “Welcome to the CFEd Designation Program" will explain the application process and cost in detail.
